Baku White City applies international ecological standards


Baku White City’s leading landmark Baku White City Office Building applied for international BREEAM standard certification (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology). The building claims to become the first certified “green” construction within both the project and Azerbaijan, which can push the ecological development in the country and lead to application of innovative technologies and support the implementation of environmental legislation, as well as improve the quality of the environment. BREEAM is the leading global environmental assessment system of buildings and was created in 1990 by the British organization BRE Global. Today BREEAM is an international quality mark for high-tech buildings.

Construction of the Baku White City Office Building began in February 2012. The area in front of the building where the foundation stone of Baku White City lays will become the beginning of the walk along Nobel avenue. Baku White City project had ecological requirements in designing process, which were taken into account and incorporated by ATKINS specialists. Particular attention was paid to water consumption, lighting and energy savings, as well as optimization of the transport accessibility and office space. For the successful integration of the building in the rental market specialist of the international consulting firm Jones Lang LaSalle (USA) were attracted and the management team of the office building is preparing to provide services to tenants at the international level.

Baku White City urban development project is carried out within the framework of the Decree of Mr. ILHAM ALIYEV, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic entitled “COMPREHENSIVE ACTION PLAN FOR IMPROVING THE ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS IN THE AZERBAIJAN REPUBLIC DURING 2006 – 2010”.
